We headed out east today for our trip and had a lovely encounter with Transient orcas just south of Trial Island.
Transient orcas are marine mammal-eaters and they were likely scouring the area in search of prey. Nearby, there is a haul-out site for one of these orcas’ favourite prey species — harbour seals. We did get to see the seals out on Chain Islets during our trip today.
Additionally, we also saw numerous bald eagles and a river otter!
