Humpback Whales, Harbour Seals and sea lions
To begin our morning trip we began by heading southwest out of Victoria towards Race Rocks Ecological Reserve.
Passing nearby Constance Bank we encountered our first whale of the day, a Humpback Whale! We watched this large baleen whale for a while before it headed down into a deep dive showing us a nice tail fluke. Just after this individual did this, we spotted another blow from another humpback! After we spent our time with this animal we continued on our way towards Race Rocks.
Upon approaching Race Rocks Ecological Reserve we were lucky enough to encounter an adolescent Humpback Whale that was lunge feeding in the tidelines! It was incredible to get to see this feeding behaviour.
After the adolescent humpback we checked out some of the other marine life that is present at Race Rocks such as Stellar Sea Lions, Califonia Sea Lions and Harbour Seals.
These experiences made for a great morning trip and its always a treat to be able to show our passengers how incredible these animals are!
