© Five Star Whale Watching/Andrew Lees. Image — Members of the T46B family of Transient Orcas from today’s trip.
After we left Victoria’s Inner Harbour, we went east and then north towards Boundary Passage. There we encountered the T46Bs near Spieden Island. The two adult males in this pod have distinct nicks in their dorsal fins, which makes it easy to identify them.
Transient orcas are marine-mammal eating orcas. Their main diet consists of: Harbour seals, Harbour porpoises, and sea lions. On the way to Boundary Passage, our guests got to enjoy scenic views of the Southern Gulf Islands.
