Humpback Whales

This morning we left Victoria’s Inner harbour and went east towards San Juan Islands. There we found two Humpback whales travelling together along the south west coast. We spotted the whales from miles away from their almost 20 feet tall blows, which look like plumes of mist in the distance.

After leaving the two Humpback whales, we encountered another Humpback whale, named Split Fin(pictured above), on our trip. Split Fin did short, shallow dives as we observed it. We also went to Chain Islets during our trip today where we found many different species of gulls, Harbour seals, and cormarants.
