Whale of a Tail!

Here is a whale of a tail 🙂  So this fall, in particular in the later stages of December, we encountered BCZ0131 “Gnarly” a number of times. Our last viewing of Gnarly was in Oct 2015 and we actually thought Gnarly had stopped coming to the Salish Sea. Yet Gnarly showed up again this fall. The last recorded encounter with Gnarly in the Salish Sea according to Happy Whale

was in 2016. According to Happy Whale, Gnarly spends the winter in and around Mexico. Gnarly’s tail has not always been like this, earlier DFO pictures showed the tail was normal…..
