May 31st – Afternoon with Transient Killer Whales

Transient Killer Whales

Transient Killer Whales

We spent this afternoon with Transient Killer Whales, the T65A’s, out west! This family of Transient’s is one of our favourite and always provides fun encounters. Today was no exception and the highlight was when one of the Orcas did a fantastic Spyhop 🙂 These Orcas are also known as Bigg’s Killer Whales in honour of DR. Michael Bigg, who was the first person that recognized  Orcas could be identified using their Dorsal Fins & Saddle Patch, which are unique to each whale.
